By The people of Ipakodo and its environs will be hosting the world as it holds its maiden edition of Ipakodo Day come October 2022.
At a press briefing organised to unveil the logo of the celebration, present its Aso-Ebi Ankara and laid out the itineraries of the 1-Week celebration, the Chairman of Ipakodo Development Association (I.D.A), Prince Olasunkanmi, said since the commencement of the reign of Royal Father, Oba (Engr) Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa, Osomeku 1, the Sekumade of Ipakodo, the town has been getting attention for positive reasons. Noting that the approval of the celebration signaled the dawn of a new.
“Ipakodo is also one of the foremost communities in the current Ikorodu Division. I am happy to announce to all our community stakeholders, both indigenes and residents that this great kingdom has now arisen from the 19 years of inactivity occasioned by the vacuum in the Sekumade stool and the attendant litigation that followed.
Today, history is being written as our great kingdom, Ipakodo is now in the news for the positive reasons. Oba Sotonwa, as the royal father of this community has signaled the dawn of a new era with his approval for the celebration of Ipakodo Day for the very first time in history!
“On behalf of my humble self and other members of the Ipakodo Development Association (I.D.A), we express our gratitude to our royal father for giving us his approval and marching order to host the Maiden Edition of Ipakodo Day Celebration this year,” he said.
He further used the medium to call on all corporate organizations, industries and small or medium scale enterprises domiciled in Ipakodo Kingdom to join hands with the orgainers in promoting the economic growth of the community.
“We count on your supports, through kind, cash and sponsorship of any of our programme as our platform provide a veritable opportunity for you to showcase your goods and services to residents and visitors alike.
“Our maiden outing has been carefully planned to feature a mixture of socio-cultural events and activities with a view to giving everyone a sense of belonging and enhance the effective participation of all and sundry.
To demonstrate our seriousness towards hosting a successful maiden Ipakodo Day, we shall be unveiling the event logo, Ankara Aso Ebi and the line-up of activities to commemorate the event to the gentlemen of the press and the general public shortly,” he averred.
While commending the activities of the Committee in charge of the celebration, Oba Sotonwa, said hosting the Ipakodo Day now is the right time even though it is not expected to be perfect but he is confident Ipakodo Day would be glamorous with areas of improvement.
The activities lined up to commemorate the maiden Ipakodo Day are as follows;
Day 1: Monday, 3rd October, 2022- Woro Procession & Cultural Activities Day
Day 2: Tuesday, 4th October, 2022 – Free Medical Outreach & Children’s Activities
Day 3: Thursday, 6th October, 2022 – Ipakodo Citizens’& Community
Day Day 4: Friday, 7th October, 2022 – Youth Activities Day / Mr & Miss Ipakodo Day & Music Fiesta
Day 5: Saturday, 8th October, 2022 – Grand Finale Reception / Unveiling of Ipakodo Hall-of-Fame Also.
