INTERVIEW: I will deliver the best representation to Mushin Constituency II, says LAHA aspirant Akinsupo Morgan

Akinsupo Morgan is a 33-year-old aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in Mushin Constituency II under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Bowen University graduate currently works as a Business Development Manager in one of Nigeria’s leading banks.

In this interview with BlackBox Nigeria, he speaks about his aspiration, legislative ideas, and plans for his constituents.

Why do you want to represent the people of Mushin Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly?

Thank you so much for this question. I am moved to represent the good people of Mushin because I see the need to represent them. As a young man, I am closer to the grassroot and see and understand the yearnings of the people. Personally in my capacity, I am equipped to effectively represent and protect the interest of my people.

What problems have you identified in your Constituency and how do you intend to solve them?

A lot of problems have been identified ranging from security to sports, to education, just to mention a few. We have processes and apparatuses in place to solve these problems. So help us God.

Does your aspiration represent the recent clamours for young people in government? If yes, what makes you different from other youths in the race?

Yes, it does. The joy of every parent is to see their children do well in their presence while they are alive. If we aren’t in the picture at this time, when exactly do we get into the picture?
We are moved to start and do it now, hence why our campaign mantra is #AsikoTito (it’s time).

I have lived in Mushin from birth and know the needs of my people. With my professional background and knowledge, I stand out and I am able to deliver adequately to my people.

Lawmaking is unarguably the most important duty of every legislator. What fresh bills and laws are you introducing to the Lagos State House of Assembly?

This is an integral part of my mission. There are bills on our books to push as soon as we get into the House. They range from bills in favour of sports, youth empowerment, poverty alleviation, among others.

Mushin has a reputation for being a violent community. How do you intend to address this issue?

When the youths are adequately empowered, would there be violence on the streets? Now, the question is, who are the violent ones? The youths. So empower the youths and violence is off the streets. My agenda covers plans to mke the streets safe and conducive for all and sundry. We believe we can achieve this and definitely will, by God’s grace. Amen.

How will you describe your chances of clinching the APC ticket?

Well, no one ever wants to say he or she doesn’t stand a chance. With God on our side and the good people of the party who believe in the ideology that we bring to the table as well as our plans, I would say we stand a very good chance to clinch the ticket to represent the good people of Mushin Constituency 2 because #AsikoTito.
