Injury: Giroud To Miss Arsenal’s Clash With Liverpool
Arsenal’s top striker, Olivier Giroud has been ruled out of English Premier League match against fierce rivals Liverpool due to a harmstring injury, club Manager, Arsene Wenger has said.
Giroud, who has scored 7 goals so far this season was substituted in the second half of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over West Ham United in the League Cuo quarter finals on Tuesday night. He has been scheduled to undergo scans on Thursday so as to access the damage.
Wenger said, “It doesn’t look very good for him, I think he is out of Friday night match. We have to wait. Nowadays you do the scan 48hours after the injury. That will happen on Thursday, then we will have to precise kind of grade on what his hamstring is.
“When you listen to him, the pain is quite big, but the grade is not always linked with the intensity of the pain.”
Though, midfielder Francis Coquelin was also substituted for a minor injury in the final stage of the Tuesday’s match after a knock, but Wenger expects him to be fit to face Liverpool, their fellow top four contenders. Arsenal are currently in the Fifth position a point and place behind next opponent, the Merseyside side which it will host on Friday.
