Indian Authorities Arrest Hope Uzodinma Over Possession Of Ivory And Sword Cane

Updates from the city of Mumbai has confirmed the arrest of a Nigerian simply identified as Hope Uzodinma, BlackBox Nigeria reports.

It was gathered that the 40year-old Business man based in Bobkhode village in Koparkhairane was arrested after a team of Anti Narcotics Cell searched his apartment and found him to be in possession of an elephant ivory and a sword cane.

It was learnt that the authorities put him up for search after a certain King Chukwudi Fidelis was arrested earlier in the week with a 64gm of methamphetamine powder said to be worth 3.2lakh and confessed to have gotten it from Uzodinma.

According to a Senior Police attached to the ANC, Inspector Ravindra Budhwant, Uzodinma disclosed that he smuggled the ivory and sword cane into India from his home country, Nigeria.

He said, “While searching Mr Hope’s house, we found a 12 inch-long elephant tusk worth 1.65lakh and a sword cane. Upon interrogation, he confessed that he had smuggled them from Nigeria.”

It was further gathered that India’s Wildlife Crime Control Bureau confirmed that the Uzodinma was in possession of an authentic ivory and he has been booked under the sections of Wildlife Protection Act along with those of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and also the Arms Act.
