Imo State Assembly Impeaches Deputy Speaker, Iwanyanwu

During a plenary session on Tuesday, the Deputy Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, Amara Iwanyanwu was impeached.

He was removed from his position after the representative of Orlu State Constituency, Ekene Nnodim, submitted a resolution for the removal of the speaker, signed by 18 out of 27 lawmakers.

The reason for his impeachment is undisclosed as at the time of compiling this report.

Amara Anyanwu is a representative of Nwangele State Constituency.

According to Daily Post, some anonymous lawmakers claimed that Amara Anyanwu was high-handed and overtly ambitious.

Paul Emezih, the speaker, who head the plenary approved the Impeachment.

Recall, that the House has, also concurrently suspended six lawmakers of the state legislature.

Meanwhile, similar incident happened in Plateau State last Thursday. Where the State House of Assembly Impeached its Speaker Abok Ayuba Nuhu based on alleged corruption.

This was after 16 out of 24 lawmakers voted him out, during a House plenary session.
