Ikorodu United of Lagos played what many believe to be their best game of the season when they defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta on Sunday.
The Lagos-based team who only had to move to Abeokuta due to the LMC sanction melted on them dominated the game from kick off till the sounding of the final whistle. The support from the Abeokuta fans was massive and it didn’t look much as a neutral ground as the boys enjoyed every single moment of their time on the pitch.
This has led to calls from club faithful to move the club to Abeokuta on a permanent basis, as Abeokuta could turn out to be the club’s goodluck charm.
It is also worthy of note that a Lagos-based team Julius Berger also relocated out of Lagos in 2006 though it wasn’t enough to save the club from going to relegation.
