Ikorodu General Hospital MD reels out achievements after two years

The Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of the General Hospital Ikorodu, Dr. Taiwo Hassan has rendered an account of stewardship after two years in office.

As part of activities to mark his second anniversary, Hassan has reeled out several achievements of his administration which kicked off in 2020.

The scorecard include construction and equipping of a New Blood Donor Clinic, renovation and equipping of the Hospital Medical Laboratory, creation and lead lining of an additional X-ray room with an additional digital X-Ray machine, linking up of the hospital to a Band A Feeder Line via a 33KVa Transformer providing at least 22 hours of electricity daily and creation of New Theatre Suite with additional Anaesthetic Machine.

Others are creation of a High Dependency Unit (HDU) with 3nos fully functional ventilators and monitors with capnography, renovation of the recovery room in the main theatre with installation of patient monitors, creation of a Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) in the MCC, procurement of 3nos new delivery beds and resuscitieres, creation of well-equipped birthing suite, renovation and equipping of the physiotherapy department with state-of-the-art equipment and renovation/facelift of the hospital frontage.

The scorecard also includes total and complete overhaul of the GOPD waiting area and consulting rooms, deployment of electronic medical record (EMR) systems in clinics within the hospital including the Accident & Emergency Centre, renovation and upgrading of the Health Information Management Department, rehabilitation of hospital’s internal road network, construction of a Centralized Oxygen Pipe Supply System in all the wards and the Accident and Emergency Centre and rehabilitation of the dysfunctional Oxygen Pipe System in the Maternal and Child Centre.

Also listed are total overhaul of the Accident and Emergency Centre with deployment of state-of-the-art equipment such as patient monitors, renovation of the gynae section of female ward with new hospital neds, installation of Patient Multi-Parameter Monitors in the male and female wards, renovation of the Peadiatric Surgery section of male ward with new hospital beds, total overhaul and renovation of the male and female wards of the Hospital with new hospital beds, total overhaul and renovation of Post-Natal Ward II, and acquisition and commencement of installation of a bed elevator in the hospital.

Others include construction of car parks (for members of staff and others for clients), complete renovation of hospital’s customers toilet, replacement of hospital gate and signage, establishment of additional paypoints within the hospital, and construction of a new conference room, acquisition of 3nos new dental chairs, renovation of the Orthopaedic Department, renovation of the hospital mortuary and creation of an Anatomic Pathology Department with commencement of autopsy and histopathological services, purchase of industrial washing machines and driers for the laundry unit and acquisition of 2nos industrial ironing machine for the laundry unit.

Others are purchase of a giant Autoclave Machine for the CSSD, construction of a gang way around the hospital, construction of several waiting areas for patients/clients convenience around the hospital, renovation of the hospital’s doctors quarters and completion and dedication of the hospital chapel building.

The rest include commencement of House Officers Training, acquisition of an additional hospital ambulance, creation of an additional Optometrist Room, purchase of additional ECG machine for the accident and emergency centre, construction of an interlocking arena beside the Orthopaedic Department, fostering and engendering a good and harmonious working relationship between all departments, sections and units in the hospital, and commencement of a Plastic and Burns Clinic.

Others are commencement of dental Services at the Agbala Annexe of the hospital, reconstruction of collapsed fence at the Imota Annexe of the hospital, revamping of out-patient services at the Imota Annexe of the hospital, construction of a sports and recreational centre with games and sports facility, commencement of a wellness clinic in the hospital, commencement of physiotherapy sessions for ANC clients and re-introduction of Urology and Endocrinology clinics.
