Nine days after the demise of the Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA in Lagos, Oladotun Olakanye, his erstwhile deputy, Rekiya Hassan has been sworn in as the substantive boss of the council.
In a ceremony held at the Lagos House in Alausa in the state capital, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday evening swore in Hassan, a lawyer who previously served as the Supervisor for Agriculture in the LCDA.
Rekiya Olunfunke Hassan, the new council boss is an indigene of Ikorodu, in the eastern part of the state BlackBox Nigeria has exclusively gathered. A staunch member of the ruling All Progressive’s Congress, Hassan also previously served as the Assistant Legal Adviser of the party in the LCDA.
In addition to her local government experience, Hassan has been involved in various community and youth activities. She is a member of the Rotary Royal Ikeja Ambassadors Club, serving as the Chair for Youth Activities, and is a member of Amnesty International.
She also founded the Elpis Initiative, a non-profit organization focused on welfare and vocational training for grassroots communities.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that her appointment is a continuation of “good governance and leadership” in the council, commending her dedication to community service.
