Ikorodu Born AbdulGafar Andu Gets Rookie Referee of the Year Award In Canada



Ikorodu born Abdulgafar Andu studying at Red River College, Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada has been selected as the recipient of the Manitoba Soccer Referees’ Association 2022 Rookie Referee of the Year.

In a letter dated November 10 and made available to BlackBox Nigeria, AbdulGafar would be presented with the award on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the awards luncheon at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, at 12:00 p.m.



“Dear Abdulgafar:

 

The MSRA is pleased to advise that you have been selected as the recipient of the MSRA 2022 Rookie Referee of the Year. We will be presenting the award on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the awards luncheon at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, at 12:00 p.m. 

 

“We are also viewing the Croatia v. Canada game at 10 a.m. as well. You and a guest are invited to attend the event complimentary of the MSRA. Please contact me upon receipt of this letter regarding attendance.

Speaking to BBN, AbdulGafar said though he had been into refereeing in Nigeria before traveling to Canada, he went into the sport in Canada because he saw that there are better opportunities there.



AbdulGafar Andu was born and brought up in Ikorodu in a family of 5. He started his career as a football Referee in Ikorodu in January 2017.
