Ikorodu Boat Mishap: Babajimi Benson, Ganiu Abiru, Toyin Gafar Bolowotan, Ikorodu Ambassadors Grieve With Families of Victims

Following the unfortunate boat mishap that occurred along Ebute-Ikorodu Waterways claiming not less than five lives, the Honourable representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has shared his condolences with the families of the deceased.

“I grieve with the families of all those involved in yesterday’s boat mishap at Ebute, Ikorodu.

I am aware that no fewer than five persons died  following the regrettable and avoidable incident, I pray that the good Lord shall grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses,” Benson wrote on his Facebook page.

While also Sympathizing with the affected families, senatorial Aspirant for Lagos East, Otunba Ganiu Abiru, urge government to enforce strict rules on waterways. 

In a statement issued on Thursday and  signed by the Director-General,

Ganiu Olusegun Abiru Senatorial Campaign Team (GOA), Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, the senatorial hopeful urged both the state and federal government to enforce strict adherence to safety rules on the waterways while sympathising with the families of the victims of the fateful boat mishap in Ikorodu on Wednesday.

In the statement Otunba Abiru called on the Lagos State Government to promptly improve on the transportation services on Lagos water ways,to restore the confidence of Lagos commuters.

To ensure strict adherence to safety measures by ferry operators on Lagos waterways, he enjoined users of the ferry services to report any sharp practices they may notice or observed among operators, in order to bring erring operators to book.

Abiru prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed, while praying for God to grant deceased families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

In his condolence message made available to BlackBox Nigeria, aspirant for Ikorodu Constituency 1 seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Toyin Gafaar ‘Bolowotan’, said it is with heavy hearts that he received the news of the unfortunate boat mishap that occurred in Ebute.

“My condolences go out to the families of the deceased. May the Almighty Allah grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss. I believe there is need to further strengthen enabling laws that will protect water transportation in our state,” he stated in his statement condoling with the families.

 

The Ikorodu Ambassadors group under the leadership of Rasheed Fatuga also shared its condolences with the victims of the incident.
