Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has announced the commencement of its 2026 bursary scheme for indigent students from the council area studying in public tertiary institutions.
The scheme, approved under the administration of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, is aimed at providing financial assistance to students, promoting access to higher education and encouraging academic excellence.
According to the council, applicants must be genuine indigenes and residents of Ijede LCDA, currently studying in an approved public higher institution and able to provide valid evidence of studentship.
Applicants are required to submit two recent passport photographs, birth certificate, admission letter, current school fees receipt, valid school ID card and their most recent statement of result.
They must also provide an identification letter from either the Alajede of Ijede Kingdom or Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, as well as a letter of indigeneship or residence from Ijede LCDA.
Applications opened on Monday, September 21, 2026, and will close on Thursday, September 24, while screening is scheduled for Monday, September 28.
Ijede LCDA was created in 2003 from the old Ikorodu Local Government and covers communities including Ijede, Egbin, Oke-Eletu, Igbodu, Abule-Eko and Igbopa.
The council has also implemented other social intervention programmes under Gbadebo-Alogba’s administration, including a free medical outreach in February 2026 which provided healthcare services to about 1,000 residents.
