The leadership of Ijede LCDA, on Thursday, celebrated the annual tree-planting day for the year 2022.
At the event held at the Anwarul-Islam Primary School, Ijede, the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba was represented by the Council Manager, Alhaji Ademola Abdul-Azeez.
The council boss harped on the need for the people of Ijede to take keen interest in planting of trees around them as a means of environmental protection.
She then enjoined all residents to shun environmental degradation and ensure a healthy environment for all.
“It is man’s responsibility to protect planet earth and make it conducive for human habitation from generation to generation,” she said.
Also speaking at the event, the Vice Chairman, Mr Kabir Femi Kareem, representing the Lagos State deputy governor, discussed the theme of this year’s commemoration, “In harmony with nature”, noting that the tree planting event reminds everyone of the need to protect their relationship with nature.
