Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has been ordered to be arrested by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, after a video surfaced of him assaulting a police officer.
In a statement released by Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP ordered the Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police to arrest Seun Kuti and investigate the incident.
Adejobi said, “The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.”
The IGP warned that “acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated,” and promised that offenders of such crimes would be brought to book.
In response, Seun Kuti posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story, claiming that an attempt had been made on his and his family’s lives.
He said, “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof, but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised, and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job (You all should mind your business so the officer will not lose his job).”
Obidients have also blasted Omoyele Sowore for suggesting that they needed Kuti executed because he didn’t support Peter Obi in the just concluded presidential election.
Sowore wrote, ”
