iCare Foodbank Extends ‘Apo Anu’ Distribution To Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre

In fulfilment of its core mandate of ensuring the vulnerable in Ikorodu Federal Constituency do not go to bed hungry, the iCare Foundation Foodbank of Representative Babajimi Benson (Ikorodu Fed. Constituency) extends the monthly distribution of food sac ‘apo anu’ to Owutu rehabilitation centre in Agric area of Ikorodu.

Though the iCare Foodbank has been operating in the last 4 years distributing food to not less than 500 families every month, the March 2020 distribution will be the first time it will be given to Owutu Rehabilitation Centre.

In a chat with BlackBox Nigeria correspondent, the Administrative officer of iCare Foundation, Mr Rasheed Aregbeshola, said the distribution to the centre would now be accommodated each time the iCare Foodbank is giving foods out.

“Giving the centre is something we have considered serious and I believe the inmates in the rehabilitation centre need it more. Our plan is to increase the ration that goes to the centre as the months go by, ” he said in chat.

iCare Foodbank, is a nonprofit charitable organization that buys food and grocery products and redistributes the items in a bag called ‘APO AANU or ‘MERCY BAG’ to less privileges.

Addressing beneficiaries, at Rep. Babajimi Benson constituency office along, Ebute-Igbogbo road, which is the main distribution centre, the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Coordinator of iCare Foundation, Alhaji W.A Yusuf, welcomed all and prayed for financial breakthrough in the life of the beneficiaries. “I pray you will all be in position to cater for someone else in the coming future”, he said.

While speaking at the event, the initiator of the iCare Foodbank, Rep. Babajimi Benson, said the initiative was designed to prevent his constituents, particularly the aged ones from going to bed without food. “What we are doing is to support our people and enable them to feed themselves for a while,” the Chairman, House of Representatives Committeeon Defence, said.
