I will pray for Nigeria – Ooni

As the Olojo festival began, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Sunday evening entered into seven days seclusion to pray to God to touch the hearts of politicians.

Oba Ogunwusi, while addressing reporters in front of his palace before he proceeded to Ilofi where he would observe the seven-day seclusion, lamented that there was only one political party in Nigeria, noting that politicians were of the same character and values, and they had been playing with the lives of Nigerians.

The Ooni said he would use the spiritual moment of seclusion to pray to God to touch the hearts of politicians to stop playing with the lives of Nigerians.

He said: “This time, it is a very sensitive one and a very serious one. First of all, to thank God almighty and the spirits of our ancestors that have been guiding us thus far. God has helped us from this pandemic because we won’t be able to handle it.

“We should not rest our oars. I am going into seclusion, which is the 6th during my reign. I inherited it from my ancestors thousands of years ago. We believe in the forces of nature for nature to conspire in our favour, but every other thing in our country they are all man-made, the likes of security. Our politicians, they will take credit for that, they are the ones that caused it to date. I will go again into seclusion for God to touch their hearts for them to stop playing all of us like ‘ludo’.

“They should be more sensitive about people because it is just one political party. They are just crisscrossing from one political party to the other to retain their positions. We have one political party in this country, same value, same character, same politician.”
