In a candid and heartfelt interview with BBC News Yoruba, Toyin Abraham bravely delved into the turbulent journey that led to the dissolution of her marriage with actor Adeniyi Johnson.
In her emotionally charged narrative, she also shed light on her unexpected encounter with the shadowy world of drugs.
With a somber reflection, Toyin disclosed that a close female friend had introduced her to drugs during a period of profound despair, convincing her that these substances could offer an escape from her overwhelming troubles and alleviate the weight of her sadness.
“I have made choices that do not align with my upbringing in a Christian home,” Toyin confessed, her voice filled with remorse.
“When the initial problems began to surface, some of my acquaintances introduced me to drugs, leading me down a path where I questioned my own decisions.”
The actress went on to emphasize that her broken marriage was never part of her life’s plan. Nevertheless, she found herself ensnared in the emotional turmoil it brought forth.
“It was as if these substances were feeding off my negative emotions,” Toyin revealed.
“Even my efforts to pursue positivity seemed to be overshadowed by the darkness that engulfed me. That’s when I knew I had to put a stop to it.”
In her quest for redemption and healing, Toyin sought professional assistance and made the difficult decision to distance herself from the friends and influences that had contributed to her downward spiral.
“I made a conscious effort to embrace positivity and confront my struggles with depression and addiction head-on,” she stated resolutely.
