By Tragedy has befallen the deputy governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana after he lost two of his children to the cold hands of death in less than a week.
Gubana’s 16-year-old daughter, Khadija died of injuries sustained in an auto crash which claimed the life of her younger brother.
On Saturday, June 11, the deputy governor’s children involved an accident along Maiduguri-Kano highway. Unfortunately, his seven-year-old son, Mai Mala Buni Junior died on the spot.
While his teenage sister and other members of the family who sustained injuries in the accident were rushed to Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano for medical treatment.
Death again crept into the family when Khadija, fondly called Siyama, breathed her last on Thursday morning. She was, until her death, a SS II student of Essence International School in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Hussaini Mai Suleh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, confirmed the tragic development in a statement, saying the remains of Khadija were buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
