Kids are back to school. While this is a great relief, especially for sit-at-home moms who had to deal with handling their children 24/7 (this can be such a chore no matter how adorable the kids are), it brings up yet another problem – getting them dressed in time for school and of course, making breakfast for them, you do not want that bundle of joy to leave home on an empty stomach, do you?
Now it’s slightly easy when you have to deal with the preparation of one child but when it involves two or more, the stress and rush are heightened, especially with your kid yelling in your ears: “You’re going to make me get to school late, mom!” The last thing you want to be doing at that moment is being stuck on what to prepare for your child or stuck in cooking a meal which takes hours to get ready.
While you might easily resort to cereal to save the day, you can not keep feeding your child with cereal from Monday to Friday. He will enjoy it for the first three days and then complain to you about it on the fourth day. Try something spontaneous like French toast.
French toast is not only easy to prepare but rich in Vitamin B, carbohydrates and proteins giving your child the necessary nutrients required by his body. It is also easy to prepare and can be made in 5 minutes with about 5 ingredients.
To get started making a French toast, get the following ingredients handy (you can prepare them in advance the night before to hasten the process):
– 1 cup of milk
– 2 large eggs
– A pinch of salt
– 4 thick slices of a day-old bread
– 1 spoon of butter
Now, let’s get cooking.
– Whisk your milk, eggs and salt in a bowl.
– Lightly butter your fry pan and place on medium heat.
– Soak both sides of your bread into the mixture and place it into the pan then cook both sides until it turns golden.
With that, your child’s French toast is ready to be served and eaten. Serve alongside a hot chocolate drink to earn yourself a kiss from your child before he leaves for school.
