Save for those who attend private universities, many Nigerian students are currently stuck at home after the umbrella body of lecturers in the country, better known as ASUU, recently decided to embark on a one-month warning strike.
Spending four weeks doing absolutely nothing can be boring and somewhat frustrating. Interestingly, the one-month break can be used for good. Rather than lazing around, here are five things you can do to improve your health and personal lifestyle before heading back to the classroom.

Amid the back and forth between ASUU and the Federal Government, you can take advantage of the break to develop a reading culture. Make it a habit to read everyday. Reading, they say, helps to ease stress and settles the mind. You also learn new things and expand your knowledge base.
– Get engaged
It could be getting an internship, or podcast making or learning a soft skill. You should try something very different from your regular routine. It will help you grow not only academically, but also in the areas of personal development. Acquiring a new skill will help build your portfolio and give you an edge after your schooling years. It can also help you make some money as a side hustle.
– Work out

You don’t necessarily have go to the gym, you can engage in physical therapy from the comfort of your home. Aerobics like sit-ups, push-ups and jumping jacks are okay to keep you active. You can also involve yourself in jogging and taking long strolls but not in crowded places.

Healthier eating is very important for your personal well-being. Eating balanced diet gives your body the nutrients it needs to function properly and helps to boost your immune system. However, resist the urge to fall into the trap of “emotional eating“. This may happen when you are stressed by personal worries, changes in your surroundings or the thought of not engaging in school activities for a while.
