In a harrowing incident, a private jet carrying Adebayo Adelabu, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, crash-landed near the Ibadan Airport on Friday night.

The aircraft, identified as a Flint Short Aero HS 125 with the registration number 5N-AMM, encountered difficulties during its approach and landed approximately 50 meters short of the runway threshold.

It subsequently skidded into a bushy ditch.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but it occurred amidst hazy weather conditions.

Recall that the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMET), in April, had issued a travel warning due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Despite this precaution, the aircraft faced challenges during its descent.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had previously advised pilots and airline operators to exercise caution during hazardous weather conditions as the dry season approaches.

Unfortunately, the aircraft’s landing fell short of expectations, leading to the crash.

As of now, there is no official statement regarding injuries sustained by the minister or other passengers on board.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
