As the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashir Obasa continue to come under scrutiny for corruption, another discovery has been made how the Agege lawmaker shared N80m among his colleagues as estacode.

According to an expose by Sahara Reporters, Speaker Obasa, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni and 17 other members received N80m as estacode after returning from a women leadership programmed which was held in Dubai. The online news media had on series of its reports disclosed how Obasa and his allies at the Lagos Assembly diverted public funds for personal use.

Some of the reports showed how Obasa approved N17m monthly to a proxy company as maintenance for his private office, residence and guest house. Also, it was discovered that the 5th term lawmaker fraudulently approved the sum of N258m for printing of invitation cards for the inauguration of the 9th Assembly two months after the event held.

However, a new document published by SR revealed how Obasa, Sanni and 17 other members were paid N80m for an event they attended in Dubai. The document dated December 30th, 2019 stated that the payment was released on the order of the Speaker as approved sum as estacode for the lawmakers.

The document read, “Payment approved as Estacode to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Deputy Speaker, 14 officers and 17 hon. members to attend the women leadership seminar scheduled to hold at the Movenpick Hotel and Suite, Dubai, as per Rt. Hon. Speaker’s vide LSHA/FAD/0/110/IV.

It was gathered that the Speaker who is currently under pressure to stop the exposure of some of his acts in the State Assembly hired some social media influencers to attack media organisation for releasing documents against the lawmakers.
