The media was abuzz with the news of popular Sammie Okposo’s death on Friday. The ‘Welu Welu’ crooner was reported to have slumped and died in his home.

Sammie Okposo kicked-off his music career as a soundtrack producer for Nollywood in 1992. Though he was well-known at that time in the small circle of Nollywood actors and producers.

He began to gain popularity when he started the Sammie Okposo Praise Party, a platform that brought many up-and-coming Nigerian gospel artistes into the spotlight.

The Isoko indigene won both local and international awards during his lifetime, one of which was the Afro Hollywood UK Best Gospel Artiste in 2005.

However, the gospel singer was embroiled in so many controversies as he was romantically involved with many ladies, even before and after his wedding.

He dated Gloria Ibru—the daughter of  a billionaire fishing baron family. She was also a singer herself like Sammie, the pair never got married but have a daughter together named Alula.

Sammie also had a fling with popular ace actress Kate Henshaw. Their relationship lasted for 3-years but came crashing down when Kate accused him of being a woman beater.

Another famous person and actress in the list of his escapades is the retired Nollywood’s Stella Damasus. The pair dated in the early 2000s.

Sammie got married to Ozioma Okposo on July 1, 2010, after they dated for over 3 years. The couple made it known that they first met in London at Kingsway International Christain Centre which was led by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.

However, 11 years after the union Sammie was caught in the web of infidelity.

An American lady identified as ‘African Doll’ revealed that she was already allegedly pregnant for the singer. She claimed Sammie had abandoned and urged her to have an abortion.

“We both know that we didn’t use protection. We both know that we were wrong. There is still a way to handle things. He didn’t handle it right. I am not saying he has to bow to me but there is a way you do things.

“Turning your back on me is wrong. Any woman on earth won’t feel okay about it. It doesn’t feel good to be abandoned or to be thrown to the side. I cannot be walking around thinking about it, life goes on.

“I will keep the baby, I don’t really believe in abortion. Fornication is a sin. The bible says he who is without sin should cast the first stone. It is not my intention to hurt anybody but to bring life to the situation,” she told Obodo Oyinbo TV.

The lady’s allegation was followed by an apology from Sammie Okposo to his wife and fans, which he later deleted.

He, however, suspended himself from all ministry work until full restoration as he sought forgiveness from God.
