House of Representatives Pass Honourable Babajimi Benson’s Good Samaritan Bill, To Await Concurrence By Senate

The House of Representatives on Wednesday 12, December 2018 passed the Good Samaritan Bill sponsored by Honourable Babajimi Benson representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The Bill for an Act to Provide for Protection of Persons who render reasonable Assistance during Emergency situations occurring at places within Federal Jurisdiction and to serve as a model to be adopted by States of the Federation and for Related Matters (HB.171) was introduced to the floor of the green chambers on June 16, 2016.

While the bill was being committed to the Committee of the Whole on December 12, 2018 and passed, Honourable Benson restated the motives behind the bill has it would encourage people to render reasonable assistance during the time of distress without fearing the consequences of such actions.

The bill is now waiting concurrence from the Senate before it would be presented to the President to be signed into Law.
