Health Minister Speaks On ‘Indian Garri’ Spotted In Lagos Supermarket

Nigeria’s Health Minister, Professor Isaac Fawole have reacted to the imported garri spotted in an unnamed supermarket in Ikoyi area of Lagos.

In his press statement, the Minister disclosed that his attention was called to the said ‘Indian Garri.’

He said the Ministry immediately swung into action as officers of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control visited the supermarket in Ikoyi on Monday.

On visitation, it was discovered tha the 500mg packed garri had no NAFDAC registration number. He said the officers seized the remaining packs of the garri numbering about 26.

He said the garri packs were seized for analytical purposes.

According to the Minister, NAFDAC discovered that the Indian product was said to have been produced in Ghana but it was packed in the United Kingdom.

He further disclosed that the management of the supermarket had been invited for further questioning on the product.
