Has Olamide’s winning days ended? Rapper fails to clinch single award at #Headies2018

Questions are now arising as to whether Olamide is on the decline following his zero win at last night’s 12th Headies

Once upon a time, Olamide ruled the Headies like a collosus. He was one of the most important Artiste at the awards as he kept winning year after year since gaining prominence in the Music Industry some 8 years ago. Two edtions ago, Olamide won big emerging ‘Artiste of the Year’ despite the drama that ensued between him and Don Jazzy over the organisers’ choice for ‘Next Rated’. At the last edition, he also won big carting home with the ‘Best Street Hop Artiste’ and ‘Best Rap Single’.

However, last night at the Eko Convention Center of the Eko Hotel and Suites where the 12th edition of the Headies held, the YBNL boss failed to win an award. Not a single piece for someone who have more than once emerged as the biggest winner at the prestigious event.

Olamide was nominated in five different categories including Artiste of the Year and Best Rap Album but failed to clinch just one which has got many tongues wagging. While many are raising eyebrows as to a possible hanky panky from the organisers, some others believe the ‘Wo’ rapper in fact didn’t deserve any award on the night as the categories he was nominated for were squarely won deservedly.
Olamide was nominated for ‘Artiste of the Year’ which was won by Davido and he also got a nod for ‘Rap Album of the Year’ which was won by his close buddy, Reminisce.

Other categories Olamide got nominated for are ‘Best Street Hop’ won by Small Doctor, ‘Headies Viewers Choice’ which was won by Wizkid and ‘Song of the Year’ which as also won by Davido.

It however appears the YBNL lead act knew he wasn’t getting no accolades on the night as he simply ignored the awards since the nominations came out. Olamide didn’t just not attend, he also didn’t make mention of the Headies or his nominations on social media instead focusing on his upcoming US your which begins next week.
