Manchester United have been dealt a big blow over a potential signing of Borussia Dortmund star, Erling Haaland, after his agent, Mino Raiola failed to shortlist the Red Devils among the clubs likely to get the signing of the sought-after striker during the summer transfer.

Mino Raiola had earlier today made known the possibility of his Norwegian client leaving Borussia Dortmund by the end of the season. The outspoken agent shortlisted Manchester City, Bayern, Real Madrid, or Barcelona as the possible destination of Haaland.

Recall that former Manchester United gaffer, Ole Gunner Solskjaer attempted to make Haaland one of his first signings, but the 21-year-old opted for Dortmund instead. With 72 appearances for the Die Schwarzgelben, Erling Haaland has made himself one of the most sought-after youngsters having bagged 74 goals across all games.

With his father Alf-Inge Haaland being a former Manchester City player, the Leeds-born youngster have always been tipped for Premier League stints with Leeds United often mentioned as favourite Premier League club to sign him. Manchester United also joined the race and were keen on signing Haaland before settling for Jadon Sancho.

However, Raiola’s hit at Man United might block any chance of bringing Haaland to Old Trafford. When asked about the Norwegian’s next move, Raiola was optimistic about the summer transfer.

“Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. But there is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see.

“He can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City – these are the big clubs he can go to. City have won the championship five times in the last few years, much more than United.

“We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come.

“We will tell BVB (Borussia Dortmund) what our idea is and BVB will tell us their ideas. But no decision will be made in the winter.

“He is someone who wants to develop, who is looking for new challenges. And of course it’s also a question of the alternative. You only change if you have a better alternative,” Raiola said.
