In commemoration of this year’s World Clean Up Day, Green Janitors, a non-governmental and environmental ally organisation responsible for recycling of dirts, consisting of patriotic volunteers, on Saturday, took to the streets of Oshodi and the popular Sabo Ikorodu market, Lagos State, to carry out cleanup exercises.

Wearing t-shirts with the inscription, “World Clean Up Day”, volunteers stormed the Mogaji market, Oshodi. They were seen scooping dirt from every corner of the market.

The exercise ran across four locations in the area starting from Araromi street, followed by Ogunlana street, Banjoko street and finally, Brown street. All refuses gathered were, afterwards, disposed in the market bin yard.

For Oshodi Division, the cleanup exercise was carried out by the team lead, Green Oluwaseun alongside other volunteers such as Green Yusuf Boluwatife, Green Sodeeq Latifat, Green Aina Oladunni, Green Kolawale Abisola and Green Abioye Emmanuel, to mention a few.

The volunteers who partook in the exercise expressed delight, saying it was a great privilege for them to give back to the society.

“More than ever, Nigerians need to understand now that the word ‘government’ means you and I. It is advisable that we all try to make the country a better place in any way that we can,” Green Ayinde Bolaji, a male volunteer said.

In Ikorodu, the popular Sabo market played host to the Green Janitors volunteers led by Green Olafare Comfort Adunni who stressed the importance of environmental sanitation, adding everyone must become environmentally conscious.

The exercise was also held in other locations in the State including Badagry division, Bariga division, Oto-Awori division, Ife-Osun divison, Yaba divison, LASU division, and Laspotech Ikorodu division.
