Governor Sanwo-Olu Commissions Ijede New Secretariat Complex, Approves Construction of Ginti To Ijede Ferry Terminal Road

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu today, June 9, 2021, commissioned the newly constructed Ijede Local Government Secretariat and also announced the immediate commencement of the phase two of the Itamaga – Ijede road.

The new building has offices for the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary to Local Government, Conference Room, Council Manager, Treasurer’s offices and 10 office spaces for the different departments to use amongst other offices.

At the commissioning, the Governor who commended the works of the Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Comrade Fatiu Salisu for putting up the structure and bringing governance to the people, promised to upgrade the Ijede General Hospital and release fund for the just approved Fire Service for Ijede LCDA.

The Governor also said the State Government will site an Agricultural Settlement in Ijede LCDA to create employment and reduce the menace of youths restiveness in the community. The Governor further promised to site a new Secondary School building for Ijede LCDA noting that the land for the project will be visited by the Ministry of Education. In rounding up his statement, the Governor promised to facilitate and ensure that Egbin Thermal Station improved on its Community Social Responsibility to the people of Ijede as the host community.

Speaking at the Commissioning, the Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Comrade Fatiu Salisu appreciated the Governor, his deputy, Dr Abdul Kadir Hamzat and members of his cabinet for their progressive works in Ijede LCDA and the entire Lagos State.

He stated the new building became a necessity as the staff length of the Council continued to increase and the departments needed enlarged spaces to enable the smooth running of the Council representative functions.

The building housing the Secretariat before the construction of the new complex was constructed during the tenure of Late Madam Fausat Gbadebo (the former APC woman Leader, Lagos East Senatorial District). Amongst those present at the event were the Hon Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, HRM, Oba of Egbin, and his council, Ijede LCDA APC Chieftains, Chief Imam of Ìjẹdẹ, The CAN coordinator of Ijede, the former 2 terms LSHA member and 2 term Ijede LCDA Chairman Alhaji Hassan and other personalities.

In a similar development, the Lagos State Governor while commissioning the completion of the first phase of the Itamage – Ijede Road measuring 6km, announced the approval and immediate commencement of work on phase II of the road from Ginti junction to the ferry terminal in Ijede and also announced the continuation of work at the Ijede Ferry Terminal which will be a rebranding of the old to an ultra-modern terminal.
