Governor Fayose to sponsor bill allowing 18-year-olds to contest in Ekiti
Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose has disclosed that all eligible voters are entitled to also contest in elections. The Governor made this assertion while announcing his decision to sponsor an executive bill at the Ekiti State House of Assembly allowing anyone from the age of 18 to contest in elections.
This is coming on the heels of the #NotTooYoungToRun bill which has been passed by the National Assembly and only awaiting consent from the states to be passed into law.
Ayodele Fayose made the revelation during an indoor meeting with some members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend.
Fayose further stated categorically that imposition of candidates ahead of the upcoming Local Government elections will not be allowed as the people will be encouraged to pick their candidates.
