In commemoration of this year’s Annual Thanksgiving service, Governor of Bayelsa state, Douye Diri has declared Tuesday, 2nd of November, a work-free day for its residents.
Diri announced the decision through a ‘Government Special Announcement’ issued on Monday in Yenagoa by the Commissioner for information, Orientation and Strategy, Ayibaina Duba.
”His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State has declared Tuesday, 2nd November 2021 as work-free day in line with the State Annual Thanksgiving Law to enable both public and private sector workers participate fully.”
“The clergy, friends, and the good people of Bayelsa State are cordially invited to join hands with the state government to appreciate God Almighty for His unending mercies and abundant blessings for the land and people of the state,” the statement read.
It will be recalled that Current-Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly enacted the Thanksgiving Day Law in 2012 making this year’s celebration the 10th of its kind.
Meanwhile, Governor Diri affirmed that the public holiday decision was backed by the state annual thanksgiving law.
