Goodluck Jonathan Cannot Contest In 2019, As Senate Passes Amendment

Before now, if ex President Goodluck  Jonathan was fine tuning plans to run for Presidency in 2019, the dreams have now been shattered as the Senate passed a Bill into Law prohibiting such come back.

The Nigeria upper legislative chamber, today, Wednesday placed a bar on persons like Dr Jonathan from running for a second term.

The ban came to effect after voting in series of new bills being passed by the Red chamber.

The Bill sought that any Vice President sworn into office, who had completed a tenure of a sitting president and contested a fresh four years mandate shall not be eligible to run for a second term of office.

This clearly confirms the ineligibility of Dr Jonathan contesting in the next polls for the office as he has at different times been tipped to contest once the tenure of ailing President Muhammadu Buhari comes to an end.

There are already knocks for the Senate on the passage of this new Bill as it seems targeted at the person of Jonathan who perfectly fits into the explanation as there is no other person in such category.
