GenerationNext Debate! Aspiring Politician Tasks Councillorship Aspirants On Grassroots Governance

Hamzat Jimoh, an aspiring politician from the Ikorodu area of Lagos have advised councillorship aspirant to make grassroots governance a priority considering that policitians at the Local Government level are the closest to the people.

Mr Jimoh made this disclosure in his speech during the debate organised by GeneratioNext social group based in Anibaba, Ikorodu Ward F on Sunday, July 16th 2017.

He stated that political office holders in the grassroots needed to be impactful in giving back to the community as they seem very close to them. He noted that they can be handy in connecting the needs of the populace to other elected officials in the State.

Jimoh also called on the aspirants to be cautious on ways to increase the local government’s revenue (IGR) by not creating more burden for the over stressed electorate.

He revealed that the private sector can be invited to partner with the government to give back to the society in an arrangement that can be linked to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
