The Biafra Nations League (BNL), a separatist group, has asked the Federal Government to release all Biafran detainees before January 23, 2022.
The group’s Deputy Leader, Ebuta Akor Takon made this known in a statement after its Executive Meeting in Cross River State, on Saturday.
BNL said many Biafran leaders are currently in trial without trial, while calling for the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and leader of Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF), Mr. Benjamin Onwuka.
The statement read in part, “BNL leaders were in closed door discussions with commanders of our self-defence volunteers last night” and warned that “it would not be easy for Nigeria in 2022, as what happened this year would be small compared to next year.
“BNL is preparing its ground and all volunteers of our self-defence wing will apply force in executing any action that will affect the economy of the Nigerian state, especially at Cameroun borders and at sea.
“The BNL will not tolerate any form of intimidation by the government or its Camerounian counterpart, which on the other side of our zone, attacked our boys in the Peninsula without any reason whatsoever justifying their actions. Both governments are creating another insurgency by inflicting pains on our people and attacking our group. Our boys operate up to Gabon through the sea and are tagged “pirates.” It won’t be difficult to launch counter-attacks directly on Camerounian territory. The independence of Biafra is sacrosanct and there is no going back”.
