She was the wife of 41st president George H.W. Bush, mother of 43rd president, George W. Bush, and 2016 candidate Jeb Bush.
During and after her time in the White House she championed the cause of improving literacy rates among Americans.
In a short post on facebook, the 43rd U. S President, George W. Bush eulogies his mother in the following words, “My dear mother has passed on at age 92. Laura, Barbara, Jenna, and I are sad, but our souls are settled because we know hers was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions. To us, she was so much more. Mom kept us on our toes and kept us laughing until the end. I’m a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.”
Had Jeb Bush won the election like his brother, Barbara Bush would have been the first woman in history to have married a President and give birth to two Presidents. She still has the record of giving birth to the highest number of State Governors by a single woman in United States of America.
