Former PDP Chairman, Tony Nwoye Becomes APC Flagbearer For Anambra State Gubernatorial Election

 

A serving lawmaker, Hon Tony Nwoye has emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Anambra State.

Hon Nwoye, a Medical Doctor who was once the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party floored other big weights such as Senator Andy Uba and the party’s National Auditor, George Moghalu to emerge as the party’s candidate in a peaceful primary election.

After the poll, the results were announced by Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State who was the Chief Returning Officer of the exercise. Nwoye polled a total of 2,146 while Uba got 931 votes.

Hon Nwoye, the lawmaker representing Anambra East/West Constituency at the House of Representatives had contested for the governorship seat under the PDP in 2013 where he came second behind Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance who won the election
