Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has passed on at the age of 64.
He was reported to have died at midnight after a brief illness at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The former deputy governor was a popular government critic and an advocate of the public sector and exchange rate reforms.
Mailafia was the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 elections.
