Maiduguri Monday market popularly known as Kasuwar Litinin located within the Borno State capital has been engulfed by a fire outbreak.

According to Daily Trust, the fire started around 4:00 am in the morning but at the time of filing this report, the cause of the incident was still unknown.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but efforts are ongoing to put it out, no life has been lost in the inferno so far.

The fire is coming amid the ongoing presidential and National Assembly elections across the country. Results of the elections have started trickling in when the fire began.

The Punch reports that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who went around the burning market, Sunday morning, announced a N1 billion relief for the victims, promising to see the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), immediately for more relief and also urged humanitarian organisations to relieve the victims.

This is the third time over the last 20 years that the fire razed down Maiduguri’s Monday Market.
