The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in its 2017 budget for road construction has revealed that the South-West Zone will get a total of N64bn for 26 road projects. The allocation is the second largest for road projects in the budget, behind the South-South zone which got the highest budget.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that out of these 26 road projects in South-West, majority of the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the zone falls in Lagos State in which is the Ikorodu-Sagamu road.
A sum of N2bn has been budgeted to rehabilitate the Federal road which was earlier reported to be in a very bad shape.
Other major projects in the State includes, emergency rehabilitation of Third Mainland Bridge at the cost of N5.3bn, the rehabiliattion of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway at the cost of N7.8bn, expansion of Lagos-Sagamu-Ibadan road at the cost of N31bn, dualisation of Ibadan-Ilorin road at the cost of N3bn, construction of Apakun-Murtala Mohammed International Airport road at the cost of N2bn, dualisation of Lagos-Otta road at the cost of N1.7bn among other roads.
