Falz, Teni, Burna Boy Win Big At 13th Headies As Rema Wins Next Rated Act + Full List Of Winners
Lagos stood still on Saturday as the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites was filled to capacity for the 13th edition of Nigeria’s most talked about award ceremony, The Headies (formerly known as the HipHop World Awards).
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that most of Nigeria’s big names in the music industry were unavailable for the award ceremony as they were in London for Wizkid’s StarboyFiesta in 02 Arena. The likes of Burna Boy, Olamide, Naira Marley, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Rundown, Maleek Berry, Reekado Banks, Kojo funds, Fireboy, Kida kuds, Oxlade were all in London.
The award was however attended by Teni, Rema, Dr Sid, Rudeboy, Mayorkun, Seyi Shay, Victor AD and a handful of ex housemates of Big Brother Naija who joined other media practitioners at the event, which was hosted by Nancy Isime and Reminisce.
Topping the list of Award winners was Teni as she bagged 4 plaques; for Headies Viewers Choice, Best Vocalist Female, Best Recording of the Year and Best Pop Single. Also, Falz picked Best Rap Single, Best Rap Album and Album of the Year just as Burna Boy also bagged three plaques for Song of the Year, Artiste of the Year and Best Collaboration.
In the history of The Headies, three awards always on the spotlights; Rookie of the Year, Next Rated and Song of the Year were won by Barry J, Rema and Burna Boy respectively.
