Founder and owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg arrived Nigeria today, August 30th, 2016 in a bid to support technology development and entrepreneurship in the country.
His first point of call was the Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) in Yaba, Lagos, where he met with few key players in the Nigerian tech ecosystem.
There’s been a lot of Facebook-related development in Nigeria so there’s a ton of reasons why Mark may be visiting.
First, Free Basics launched in Nigeria and Mark showed his support for the Jobberman team. Then the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative invested $24 million in Andela.
A program, Facebook’s developer workshop is scheduled to hold tomorrow, August 30th. Facebook is partnering with Cool Link to launch Express Wifi in Lagos also happening soon.
He is also scheduled to meet with some tech-development teams before eventually rounding off his visit to the country.
