The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has cleared the air over unconfirmed reports that a plane crashed at Ikeja area of Lagos.
Pictures and videos of an aircraft which reportedly crash-landed in Ikeja surfaced on social media on Tuesday, and later reported by some news outlets. Many residents have since blamed the incident for the heavy traffic witnessed in the area.
Reacting to the reports in a statement on Tuesday night, FAAN clarified that the plane spotted in the area was being transported to a different location, insisting that there was no crash.
The statement reads, “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria would like to inform the general public to disregard the news making the rounds on social media about an alleged crash at Ikeja Airport.
“The aircraft was sold by the owner to a buyer, who was taking it to its final destination.”
