Gbolahan Ogunleye, the son of former Lagos State deputy governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, has been recognised as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in Ikorodu Constituency I.
This comes after weeks of disagreement over the inconclusive APC primary conducted in the area, as some of the aspirants in the race rejected the results and declared themselves as winners in the media.
Asides Ogunleye, the main contenders include the immediate past Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan and the incumbent, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade who currently serves as the Majority Leader of the Lagos Assembly.
On Tuesday, Ogunleye picked the nomination form of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Lagos APC secretariat in Acme, Ikeja. He was presented with the form by the Lagos APC Secretary, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya.
His development means that Ogunleye, whose father is a top member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), would be squaring up against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olamide Olamilekan Lawal at the polls next year.
