Former Liverpool and Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez has completed a move to his boyhood club, Nacional in Uruguay.
The 35-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired this summer.
On Tuesday, Suarez shared a video on Twitter, announcing that he reached an agreement to join the Uruguayan side where he made his professional debut in 2005.
“It was impossible to reject this possibility of playing again with Nacional. I hope to enjoy this new stage and see you in the coming days. I send a big hug to all of you and thank you for all the love you have given us. See you soon,” he had said.
Confirming his move, the striker on Wednesday posted a picture of himself wearing a Nacional kit.
“I am proud to wear my shirt again at Nacional,” he wrote.
At the age of 18, Suarez kicked off his senior career at the club in 2005, scoring 10 goals in 27 league matches to help the team secure a Uruguayan league title.
He would go on have a successful career in Europe, starting from Dutch side Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, and Barcelona where he won four Spanish league titles and one Champions League trophy before his exit in 2020.
The Uruguayan won the La Liga again in his first season with Atletico Madrid, scoring 21 goals in 32 games.
