The Nigerian women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in a dramatic comeback against hosts Morocco to solidify their Campaign on Mission X.

Trailing 2-0 within the first 24 minutes, the Falcons demonstrated resilience and tactical brilliance to overturn the deficit, ultimately winning 3-2. Esther Okoronkwo, who was named Player of the Final, played a pivotal role in the victory.

D’Tigress’ Consecutive AfroBasket Champion

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, continued their continental dominance by securing their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title.

In the final held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, they defeated Mali 78–64, marking their 29th straight win in the competition since 2015.

Tobi Amusan’s Stellar Track Performances

World record holder Tobi Amusan has had a remarkable season, securing victories in multiple international meets. She won the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the Diamond League meet in Rabat, Morocco, with a blistering time of 12.24 seconds, setting a new meeting record.

Additionally, Amusan clinched another win at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic, clocking a season-best 12.45 seconds.

These performances reaffirm her status as one of the world’s leading hurdlers and a beacon of Nigerian excellence in athletics.
