Everton secured their first Premier League win in the Frank Lampard era after cruising past Leeds United in a comfortable 3-0 victory on Saturday.
Though the Toffees currently sit 16th on the league table despite the win, they have however been eased of the relegation threat as they are 5 points above 18th placed Norwich City and just a point below 15th placed Leeds United.
Frank Lampard’s men took the game by the realm through an impressive dominant display that put more pressure on Marcelo Bielsa and his Leeds side.
With just ten minutes into the game, Everton opened the scoring sheet through a header from Seamus Coleman. Manchester United’s loanee, Donny Van de Beek had put in a cross which slipped off Dominic Calvert-Lewin by an inch. Coleman came through to salvage the situation, putting Everton into the lead.
Everton kept the momentum and were rewarded with another goal thirteen minutes after. Micheal Kean was the man who lightened up the home fans once again following Anthony Gordon’s well-fashioned corner-kick which the Irishman headed into Leeds’ goalmouth to double Everton’s lead.
In an attempt to revitalize his clueless team, Marcelo Bielsa introduced double changes just before the blow of the second-half whistle. Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw both came in to replace Raphina and Matheus Klich respectively. This was, however, unhelpful for Leeds as Everton continued the stellar performance.
Frank Lampard introduced Dele Alli in the 72nd minute to fuel the Toffees attacking threat which was doubled by another 81st substitution that saw Anwar El-Ghazi came on the pitch.
Meanwhile, before El-Ghazi was introduced, Everton had already sealed the victory following Anthony Gordon’s goal and Everton’s third in the 78th minute. Richarlison had his shot deflected into the goalmouth by Gordon who took the credit for the goal.
