Election Postponement: Lagos State Reviews 2018/2019 Academic Calendar, Changes School Resumption Dates

ELECTION POSTPONEMENT: LAGOS STATE REVIEWS 2018/2019 ACADEMIC CALENDAR, CHANGES SCHOOL RESUMPTION DATES

Following the change of election dates by the Independent National Commission, INEC in the early hours of this morning, the office of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and other affiliated bodies have reviewed the 2018/2019 academic calendar thereby, changing the scheduled resumption dates.

This development was made known to BlackBox Nigeria today via a statement signed by the state’s Director General for  Education Quality Assurance,Mrs Ronke Soyombo.

According to the statement, all schools are to resume on Monday 18^th February, 2019.

For the Presidential and National Assembly elections, all schools are now expected to close on Friday 22^nd February to resume Monday 25^th February 2019.

Similarly, for the Governorship and State Houses of Assemblies elections, all schools are now expected to close Friday 8^th March and to resume Monday 11^th March 2019.

Public and private schools, school leaders and school associations were finally urged to take note and adhere to the new guidelines from the state government to ensure hitch free electoral process across the state.

I have the directive of Her Excellency the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Idiat Oluranti-Adebule to inform ALL Lagos State school’s stakeholders and the general public that the state government is compelled by the change in election dates to further review the 2018/19 school academic calendar as stated below:

All schools resume Monday 18th February, 2019

All schools in Lagos state are expected to close on the following dates:

Friday 22nd of February and to resume on Monday 25th

 Friday 8th March 2019 and to resume on Monday 11th March

All public and private schools, school leaders and school associations should take note and adhere strictly. Kindly give this public announcement wide and urgent publicity.
