Ekiti Experience First Flight Landing as Fayemi Commissions Airport.

The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi had commissioned Ekiti State’s first airport on October 15, 2022 as the State witnessed its first plane landing

The NAF 939 aircraft piloted by E.A Balogun conveying the Minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, and his team landed on the runway to cheers and excitement of members of the public

Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, who performed the inauguration of the airport, located along Ado-Ijan road, Ekiti was among the personalities on board of the aircraft which flew all the way from Abuja to make the historic landing at Ekiti.

Speaking on the landing, Sirika described the airport as a bridge which serves as a connection between Ekiti State and the world by providing national growth.

The Governor in his speech, said the inauguration of the airport was in fulfillment of his promise to continue to work for the people of the state who elected him to his very last day in office saying the project saw the light of the day despite the very limited resources available to the state.

The airport commissioning was expected to be Fayemi’s last acts as Governor as he steps down for Governor-Elect, Biodun Oyebanji.

Fayemi said the project is standard and was borne out of resilience,he expressed confidence that it will be of help to the state in many ways.

He added that the airport is expected to accommodate cargo and passenger services.
