The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has visited the National Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to demand his certificate of return.

Shuaibu made this move on Tuesday to ascertain his claim that he won the governorship primary election in the state.

Addressing journalists at the secretariat, Shaibu stressed that he had come to receive his certification of return.

“Today is the day set aside for the collection of certificate of return for the winner of the primary. I understand someone came yesterday and was given, well, the court will decide…”

Recall that Asue Ighodalo, was declared the winner of the party’s governorship primary election.

Ighodalo was declared winner of the primary election which took place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, after polling a total of 577 votes.

Chairman of the Edo Electoral Committee and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State declared him the winner of the exercise.

However, although Shaibu, on the other hand, emerged winner of a parallel primary election which took place at his house, he wasn’t declared the winner.

Ighodalo has, therefore, said that he would not lose sleep over Shaibu’s actions adding that PDP leadership would handle the matter.
