Ebute Meta must produce next Reps member for Lagos Mainland, says indigenes

A group of Ebute Meta indigenes has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that the axis produces the lawmaker to represent Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2023 elections.

The group under the aegis of ‘Concerned Ebute Meta Indigenes’ made this known in a statement on Tuesday signed by its spokesperson, Olamide Ajala, stating that the demand is for the sake of equality and fairness.

According to the indigenes, the APC ticket must be zoned back to the Ebute Meta axis, considering the history of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency and its federal lawmakers.

“Between, 1999 and 2007, Hon Bewaji Represented Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency and records have it that he was from Yaba axis which forms the part of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency i.e. from Adekunle down to Agip,” the statement read in part.

“Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) who occupied the same seat from 2007 to 2011 was from the Ebute meta axis of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.

“From 2011 to 2015, Hon Monsuru Owolabi (Alao Sheniyan) from the Ebute meta axis represented Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, while his successor, Hon Jide Jimoh (JJ) hails from the Yaba axis.”

They then appealed to all concerned APC leaders, stakeholders and party members to ensure that the next Reps member for Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency comes from Ebute Meta.
