By The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has offered the sum of $20,000 to each member of the Rivers United FC squad that won the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
It would be recalled that in June, Rivers United earned their first-ever NPFL title after an impressive run, finishing the season with 77 points which was said to the highest ever in the league’s history.
Wike has rewarded the title-winning team with cash gift, as announced by the club on its official Facebook page on Thursday.
The governor also promised the squad a two-week pre-season training in Madrid, Spain ahead of next season’s CAF Champions League.
The post read, “Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike rewards members of Rivers United FC with $20,000 each for winning the NPFL22 season.
“He says the team will stay two weeks in Madrid to prepare for next season’s CAF Champions League
“He also conferred on each member of the team the governors merit service award (GMSA).”
